Introducing Gange Children's Centre

The Nursery Centre at Gange was officially opened by the Mayor of Harrow in November 1979. The nursery has had significant building work completed since that time to improve the facilites. The garden is fully accessible and has a wide variety of play equipment.

The kitchen has been fully modernised to enable our kitchen staff to provide a full range of nutritional and multifultural meals for the children attending the centre. A self contained commuity room has also been developed allowing the centre to provide a venue for a wide range of community groups who provide services for children and families.

Centre Objectives

  • To provide a warm and caring environment in which all children are
    encouraged and given equal opportunity to develop to their full potential.
  • To provide a secure, stable, stimulating environment for all to learn and
    develop fully.
  • To work together with other agencies to assist in decisions on
    placements, assessments and reviews.
  • To encourage parents/carers involvement in discussion and decision making.
  • To provide a variety of cultural experiences for all children and their
    families.
  • To provide a well planned, differentiated learning environment.
  • To encourage parent/carer to become more aware of their child’s needs
    and to work in partnership with parents/carers to enable them to meet
    their child’s needs.
  • To encourage the personal and professional development of staff through
    supervision, coaching, mentoring and training.
  • To work with other professionals involved with the
    children and their families to ensure the child’s care
    and learning needs are fully met.
  • To provide a healthy menu that is culturally diverse.
  • To provide a suitable establishment with relevantly
    trained staff and adequate equipment which reflects
    the cultural backgrounds of the children.
